Museum's construction

-1989 : The adventure began when a handful of people with a passion for forest heritage, decided to recover spare parts of an unused sawmill.

Those men have in mind to leave to their descendants an account of the old days life in Labaroche. " the life was hard on those plateau swept by the winds. Agriculture was not prosperous, and the Barotchés turned themselves to trades of the forest to survive".

- 1991 : They get the support of the commune, which submits the first requests for grant.

Until then, our mens had been running through the four corners of the region, and glained complete workshops of joiner's or clog maker workshop, all kind of parts, machines or tools related to wood.

Unfailingly, they're storing everything very carefully, numbering the parts, taking pictures of the machines, in order to prepare their repairing.

- 1996 :  their efforts are fruitfull. The commune get the grant, and the contruction of the builting can start.

- 1997 (august) : installation of the roof structure, by local companies. Realised with around 360m3 of wood, coming from Labaroche wood, of course !

From now on, our guys have "only" to built patiently, methodically everything that they glained.

- 1999 : Beginning of work in the park, around the museum

- 2000 (12th february)  :  great emotion for the first startup of the biggest machine: the saw "haut fer" comes back to life ! It's hardly if a small pulley protests and doesn't catch for a couple of seconds !

- July: opening to the public

As a whole, 47000 hours of volunteer work.

And they are these mens

who will make you visit !
